Columbia Swipe Market

Ongoing development and maintenance · Columbia Software Solutions

Swipe Market connects Columbia students who have spare meal swipes with students looking for one. Owen Terry and Caroline Smyth built the original platform in 2025. It later moved to CSS for continued development and maintenance.

My work has included helping take over the service and its accounts, checking its recorded activity, and supporting its continued operation. The application uses Flask, PostgreSQL, Google sign-in, and email introductions between buyers and sellers.

Understanding what the data actually says

In a September 2026 review, the database contained 886 registered users, 2,159 buyer and seller listings, and contact records involving 1,227 distinct listings.

Those are measures of activity on the platform. Payments happen outside the application, so a contact record doesn’t prove that a sale happened. I keep that distinction when describing the project rather than treating asking prices as money transacted.

These are platform totals from September 9, 2026, including activity before CSS took over. They are not results attributed solely to my work.
